On August 20, Bettina Stark-Watzinger, Federal Minister of Education and Research, visited the presentation stand of the BMBF funding line "Agricultural Systems of the Future" at the "Tag der offenen Tür" at the Federal Ministery of Education and Research (BMBF). She was informed by the coordinators Prof. Monika Schreiner and apl. Prof. Thomas Weith about the research on innovations in the agricultural sector, which are intended to meet current challenges such as climate change. They also discussed whether and how bioeconomic topics can be included in the educational curriculum, especially in schools. On August 21, State Secretaries Judith Pirscher and Kornelia Haugg also visited the "Agricultural Systems of the Future" presentation stand.

The interested public was able to explore the work of the eight "Agricultural Systems of the Future" consortia on a multi-touch table during the two-day event - from pasture farming without fences to satellite-based sensor systems in agriculture and rural-urban nutrient partnerships.

In a dialogue format lecture titled "On smart tractors and bio-spaces in the city - a journey into the future of agriculture," Dr. Rebecca Klopsch and Julia Walter from the Coordination Office of "Agricultural Systems of the Future" presented the researchers' vision for the future of agricultural production.
